The luxury catamaran cruise sold here is a 5-to-6-hour shared trip for up to 20 guests, from $123 per person, run by Sunset Oia, with a morning or a sunset departure. Over the cheaper catamarans, the extra money buys a longer day, a Greek meal cooked on board, an open bar that lists beer and a cocktail as well as wine, a shower, towels and wind jackets. The boat stops off Red Beach for half an hour, at the White Beach sea caves and at the hot springs, and the sunset option ends below Oia. It holds 4.78 on 4,446 GetYourGuide reviews. There is no tour guide: the captain and crew run the day.

What makes this catamaran "luxury"
Four items on the inclusions list separate it from the day and sunset catamarans: beer and a cocktail in the open bar, a shower on board, wind jackets, and a 5-to-6-hour day instead of 5. The group is capped at 20, the same as the day catamaran and well under the 50 to 55 on the sunset boat. "Luxury" is the operator's name for the tier; this is still a shared boat. For fewer people, the small-group catamaran takes 14. For a boat sold as private, see the private catamaran.
Morning or sunset departure
Both departures follow the same route. The meal is lunch in the morning and dinner on the late-afternoon option, which adds a stop below the village of Oia to watch the sunset. The operator asks evening guests to bring warm clothes. On the 15th of the month the sun sets at about 20:37 in June and 18:43 in October; see sunset times by month. When we checked on 27 October 2026, the next date on sale was 15 March 2027, so plan this one for spring to autumn.
The route and swim stops
Catamarans cannot moor on the beaches, so every swim is from the boat at a point the crew chooses. Weather can change the stops without notice.
- Red Beach — A half-hour stop off the coast to swim.
- White Beach — Snorkelling in the sea caves.
- Hot springs — A 30-minute stop. The boat keeps 50 metres off, and the water is about 4 °C warmer than the open sea.
- Palea Kameni and Nea Kameni — Sailing past the two uninhabited volcanic islands. The volcano hike is not included.
- Aspronisi and the Akrotiri lighthouse — Seen from the deck.
- Below Fira and the old port — Along the caldera cliffs.
- Below Oia — Sunset option only.
The meal and the open bar
The meal is cooked on board, with meat and vegetarian dishes. Meat: fried shrimp saganaki, grilled chicken fillets and pork chops. Vegetarian: Greek salad, pasta with red sauce, roasted vegetables and dolmadakia (rice-stuffed vine leaves). The bar lists local white wine, Greek beer, soft drinks and one cocktail after the meal. GetYourGuide's review summary notes that some travelers found the beer and wine limited, restocking slow and the cocktail missing, so do not book this one for the bar alone.
Who runs the day: captain and crew, no guide
The listing excludes a tour guide. The captain and crew sail the boat and give the safety briefing, with instructions in English, French, Spanish, Chinese and Korean. If you want the volcano and the island explained as you sail, the day catamaran and the small-group catamaran both include a live guide. Intoxicated guests are not allowed on board.
Who should book a different cruise
Book the day catamaran for the same 20-guest size plus a live guide, for $28 less. Book the small-group catamaran for 14 guests at $145. Book the volcano and hot springs boat if you want to climb Nea Kameni, which this cruise only sails past. If you get seasick, read our seasickness guide: 1 of the 10 latest reviews mentions seasickness despite medication.
